The Feast of Theophany

The Feast of Theophany is celebrated with "The Great Water Blessing," in which water is sanctified. The church building, the icons and altar, and the worshipers are sprinkled with the Holy Water. Parishioners take the Holy Water home and sprinkle their own homes. Recently, the blessing of waters has taken on ecological meaning. Our use of God’s world should be to sanctify it, not pollute it.
